of New Haven is searching for a Catering Coordinator to work in its Catering Department. The ideal candidate will come with extensive hospitality experience, specifically in the catering segment, others will not be considered. This is an administrative position


The Catering handles all events from small breaks to elaborate presidential events, from 5 guests to 1800 guests. It is a fast paced, multi-tasking environment that requires quick thinking and the ability to adapt to various situations, pre-setup of events, setup of events, executing events and breakdown of events.

This position is on a flexible schedule (AM Shifts), Occassional *Weekends may be Required,* a valid drivers license required and strong organizational skills. You must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time, lift up to 30lbs or more, bend, stretch and reach.

The Catering Coordinator position job duties are as follows:

* Working in a professional office setting as the coordinator for the catering department, assisting the catering manager in the execution of all correspondence, emails, documents, BEO s, floor plans and Purchase orders pertaining to the catering departments business.

* Maintains the Catering portion of EMS (Event Management System), ie. creating, detailing, correcting, preparation and distribution of BEO s.

* Maintaining the BEO s, changing headcounts on all copies, accuracy of times, locations, menus, pricing, etc.

* Knowledge of food, menus, beverages, food terms to detail and upsell to clients.

* Guiding clients in the selection process during the early planning stages of events, also understanding location restrictions and limitations when helping to select menu.

* Preparing BEO s for final review before billing

* Email weekly upcoming function report to GM, DOO & Controller

* Assist Catering Supervisor with Weekly Inventory on a need basis

* Attends weekly catering meeting

* Attends all required training sessions

* Regular student interaction, assisting them with creating a significant amount of student shoestring BEO's

* Handle client/guest complaints and problems with the assistance of the catering manager

* Proper business attire

* Ensure that Unit and University policies and procedures are followed.

* Any member of the Management team may assign other duties as needed.
