Job Summary:

The VP Software Development oversees strategy, development and operations activities of software products for Edible Arrangements and its Franchisee network. The person will be accountable for day-to-day management of our store and franchisee systems, eCommerce operations, product enhancements and execution of competing projects. This individual will need to function at a strategic level of thinking while delivering tactical solutions. The VP Software Development will enhance existing product software and envision improvements to the platform architectures while assisting in the creation of division and unit strategies. This is a management role, however, person needs to be hands on all aspects of software engineering and aware of latest trends in technology and applicability to our products. The person is also responsible for user features, cost, quality, performance, reliability and serviceability of our solutions. This position will report into Chief Technology Officer.

Essential Function and Responsibilities:

Strategy and Planning

* Provide strategic business and technological direction to the group

* Participate in the planning and prioritization of multiple projects and in the application architecture design

* Manage the projects and relationship between the business and technology teams

* Assist with developing multi-year roadmaps related to our products and solutions, including annual planning and budgeting process

* Develop and present strategies for build vs. buy decisions

* Create test automation processes and apply test-driven development methodologies where appropriate

* Lead research and development of new technologies and platforms, assisting in evaluating technologies for enterprise wide deployment

Design, Build and Deliver

* Drive the requirements gathering process to ensure systems requirements are well understood and signed off

* Drive the development of detailed design specifications for use by the technical team and make technical decisions to meet the design goals

* Work with offshore development teams to ensure execution of system test plans and adherences to software quality assurance standards; additionally, validate that business goals are accomplished

* Leverage change management, project management, and similar disciplines to align key constituents, execute upon agreed upon plan to achieve desired results

* Assist with post implementation support emphasizing the value of employee/franchisee engagement and continuous improvement to control the effectiveness of solutions

Operations

* Provide oversight and leadership for Cloud and Hosting technology infrastructure services including security, virtualization, physical servers, storage and backup and monitoring services.

* Manage the overall cost structure and operational plan across all cloud and managed services offerings to ensure that Edible can profitability and reliably deliver against customer requirements.

* Drive process across the organization, ensuring that industry standards are being met and exceeded and that the organization is in compliance with customer service level agreements (SLAs).

* Develop management systems and performance measurement dashboards to transparently track and report on performance.

* Develop and oversee effective disaster recovery policies and standards to align with the enterprise business continuity program goals.

* Provide reporting on the IT service uptime, performance, compliance and current status of the operational environments to senior leadership.

General Management and Leadership

* An effective team-builder, this individual will have the ability to 1) attract top technical and operational talent, 2) build, manage and motivate high performance teams of highly technical employees, and 3) set clear objectives and reward outstanding performance.

* Strong work ethic and ability to maintain performance over long stretches of time and during periods of work overload

Job Requirements:

* A Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline required. Masters degree in Computer Science or Business Administration preferred.

* A minimum of 10 years of experience leading software development teams consisting of both onsite and offshore resources.

* Ability to understand key business imperatives and functional areas of the company to assist in translating plans into initiatives to achieve expected outcomes.

* Ability to interact with executives, managers and subject matter experts

* Experience with Microsoft .Net technologies

* Proven success implementing Agile software development methodologies, while establishing and maintaining pragmatic engineering best practices (e.g. code reviews, testing, continuous delivery).

* A strong background in front-end technology and UI/UX design (e.g. JavaScript, Angular, React.js, HTML, CSS).

* Expertise developing and consuming RESTful Web services

* Previous experience in near-B2C SaaS based environments as well as Enterprise B2B SaaS based environments.

* Working knowledge of cloud computing infrastructure (e.g. AWS, Azure) (preferred).

* Prior architect-level experience driving product architecture, large-scale commercial product development initiatives and effectively guiding a highly technical product from vision to delivery

* Exposure to reporting and analytic presentation tools and technologies

* Exposure to security best practices

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
