Accountable for direct preparation or directing others, for a complete drawing package, including BOMs, part and assembly drawings, source and vendor item drawings, and any other documentation required to support procurement and assembly of components. Accuracy and completeness required to convey the engineering design to manufacturing to assure production at the required level of intent, integrity, and quality.


* Existing and New Product Release:

o Generation of new BOM's.

o Generate and Maintain Engineering Documentation.

o Review new product release requests for proper content.

o Coordinate new product releases and updates through US and China.

* Perform routine, non-routine, and complex design assignments requiring the operation and application of 3D modeling.

* Produce layouts and detailed drawings, and perform calculations as required.

* Perform work assignments typified by their complexity and non-routine nature, where established techniques and procedures may not exist.

* Develop creative far-reaching design capabilities, such as die castings and plastic parts components to the extent that they meet customer, supplier and assembly requirements.

* Maintain a working knowledge of basic engineering, design, tolerancing, and other technical disciplines related to the creation of products.

* Maintain a liaison with design engineers, manufacturing, and purchasing in the designing or development of components and products.

* Check details, produce engineering change notices (ECN's) and revisions, accuracy of computations, basic layouts, arrangements and designs, and selection of material and equipment in compliance with standards.

* Deliver robust and high quality design solutions that are compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements.

* Coach and mentor other CAD users to guide them in following AMETEK CAD standards.

* Maintain AMETEK CAD standards, templates and update where required.

* Provide support to the rest of the business in response to requests for assistance in matters relating to mechanical CAD and product issues.

* Contribute to establishment of and continuous improvement of mechanical engineering processes and procedures to support business needs and satisfy applicable regulatory requirements.

* Exercise wide latitude of inventiveness and independent judgment of design creation.

* Review technical literature in engineering design field regularly for possible applications.

Position Requirements


* Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or minimum of 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* At least 5 years of experience with SolidWorks.

* Experienced in using design and drafting standards.

* Highly experience in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

* Experience in working on complex electro-mechanical devices in multi-disciplinary environments.

* Experience with a variety of manufacturing methods and working with suppliers.

* Excellent working knowledge of computer aided design principles and interaction with PDM & MRP/ERP systems.

* Competent with MS Office Suite.

* Ability to train, mentor and coach others.

* Good interpersonal and communication skill.

* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Additional Characteristics:

* Strong PC and business systems knowledge.

* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
