Designs and delivers technical training programs to support Fleet Technicians, Automotive Services Contract Facilities and internal staff. Builds relationships and works with business line management to identify training needs; delivers World Class Service during all interactions.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Facilitates training programs emphasizing safe application of technical skills, AAA quality standards and Five Diamond Member experience culture. Delivers training utilizing a variety of training techniques. Ensures trainees comprehend the complexity and depth of related information in a variety of settings including formal classroom settings, hands-on, distance learning, one-on-one training or on-the-road sessions.

Identifies training needs of Fleet Technicians, Contractors, and internal staff with a primary emphasis on Road Service. Develops technical skills training programs in the areas of towing, changing flats, lock outs, jump starts, battery testing and replacement and automotive trouble shooting to support "on the go" service to our members.

Develops technical training programs geared toward the depth of knowledge required by the trainees' position and prior skills. Working with the Safety Manger, supports the establishment of a safety culture by incorporating safe working practices and OSHA requirements in all training programs.

Builds relationships with all levels of Automotive Services management and staff to proactively identify training needs for all Fleet locations. Supports the Club's Contractors by developing programs that can be delivered in a variety of settings including to individuals through one-on-one sessions, small and large group sessions, e-learning, and web-based programs. Training classes will be delivered in various locations throughout Club territory. Ability to conduct learning sessions in both indoor and outdoor settings in all weather conditions is required.

Maintains commitment to a training schedule and coordinates all training programs including outsourced training programs. Delivers training and conducts needs assessments at times and locations which support Fleet Operations and Club Contract Facilities, including nights and weekends as required. Training classes will be delivered in various times and locations throughout Club territory.

Works with the ERS Call Center Training Specialist to integrate technical training into new hire training programs.

Keeps abreast of industry trends by attending related seminars and courses, and maintaining industry certifications. Represents the department and organization at Club, community and industry functions.

Supports Fleet Operations by operating a Road Service vehicle.


High School Diploma or G.E.D. required, minimum of five years Automotive Service and or Tow Experience required. Automotive Training experience is desirable. Current ASE electrical and engine repair certification (A1 & A6) and Wreckmaster Certification Level 2/3, or ability to obtain same within twelve months of employment is required. Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to convey detailed written and oral instructions are required. Requires the ability to impart knowledge with accuracy and patience on a technical level. Ability to interact effectively by establishing effective working relationships, including the ability to contribute as a team member. Strong organization and planning skills required including the ability to work independently, multi-task and manage time effectively is essential. Knowledge of automotive mechanics, towing equipment, and troubleshooting skills is required. Complete familiarity with the Microsoft Office platform of products and unique business line software is required. Comfort and familiarity with current industry standard technology including personal electronic equipment, app based software applications and mapping programs is preferred.
