The American Heart Association (AHA) is recruiting to fill a Healthcare Quality Improvement Consultant position in our Founders Affiliate office located in Wallingford, CT.

One of the many ways we promote healthier lives is by supporting healthcare professionals' quest for continuous quality improvement. Our suite of quality programs puts up-to-date treatment guidelines, tools and resources to work in hospitals and outpatient practices across the nation.

In this role, the consultant identifies, develops and manages relationships with hospitals, outpatient practices and other key stakeholders in using Get With The Guidelines to improve quality of care for heart disease and stroke patients. The consultant will serve as an educator, business developer and account manager in securing new relationships with hospitals and outpatient practices and deepening the engagement with current relationships in maximizing Get With The Guidelines in their organizations. The consultant will also work with state health departments, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), quality improvement organizations, health plans and other agencies to ensure that our quality improvement initiatives are key priorities within their organizations.

This position is responsible for managing accounts throughout Connecticut, Rhode Island and Eastern New York. The position requires regular travel within the region.

Essential Job Duties:

Include, but not limited to: (a full job description will be provided if you are selected to interview for this position)

* Implement our suite of Get With The Guidelines hospital-based quality improvement programs and our Mission: Lifeline Systems of Care program within area hospitals and EMS agencies, and our Target: Blood Pressure and Check, Change, Control Cholesterol campaigns within area outpatient clinics;

* Identify, cultivate and manage relationships with hospital accounts, and other key healthcare stakeholder activities with regards to quality improvement;

* Work with clinical teams (Physicians, Nurses, Quality Improvement, EMS, etc.) on quality and process improvement initiatives, specifically with regards to heart disease and stroke;

* Engage and educate the medical community with regards to our initiatives (lead regional Task Forces, conduct workshops, teleconferences, etc.);

* Work with state health departments, quality improvement organizations, health plans and other agencies to ensure that our quality improvement initiatives are key priorities within their organizations;

* Build meaningful volunteer partnerships to advance the mission of the AHA

Required Experience

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each skill satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and ability required. * Two years hospital, clinical, quality improvement or public health experience.

* Must be results-driven with the ability to multi-task.

* Experience in managing and building relationships to accomplish goals.

* Experience with data analysis a plus.

* Knowledge of heart disease and/or stroke a plus.

* Ability to use Microsoft products, computer software, run reports and maintain accurate data.

* Able and willing to travel in required territory 30% of the time, with some overnight travel, and work outside standard hours as needed, including occasional evenings and weekends.

* Satisfactory background and reference checks upon offer of employment.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university, MPH preferred. College coursework combined with related experience may be substituted for a degree. Related experience may be substituted as follows: 1 ?? years experience equates to 1 full time year of higher education.


Must have at least 2 years of experience in healthcare: clinical or quality improvement. This experience may also count towards satisfying this position's educational requirement.
