Reporting Relationship: Reports to - Service Manager at the Head Office in Newton, MA

Primary Function: This position will be responsible for direct support of PCSI's On-Site service program based in the New Haven, Connecticut area servicing customers in Connecticut and surrounding areas.

Works at customer sites within a defined geographic region and tests, cleans, repairs, reassembles, and calibrates all makes and models of pipettes. Conducts mechanical and electronic measuring, recording, and inspection on pipettes serviced to ensure conformance to established specifications. Ensuring repairs, calibration, and verification standards are achieved by performing the below mentioned duties.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to - Service Manager at the Head Office in Newton, MA

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Primary Duties:

* Establishes a weekly service visit schedule through careful coordination with the service dispatcher located in the home office and with local customers and PCSI sales representatives.

* Drives to customer sites to provide On-site pipette service according to the service schedule.

* While On-site at customer facilities, provides pipette repair and calibration services.

* Represents PCSI to customers in a professional and positive manner.

* Completes service reports and expense reports and is responsible for maintaining service equipment and parts inventory.

* Provides PCSI Sales with customer leads for potential new business.

* Disassembles, cleans, repairs, and reassembles pipettes.

* Performs inspections for component defects on units received for service.

* Ensures all PM work meets established quality standards.

* Perform Pipette Calibration to meet specifications according to testing protocol and procedures based on desired service option.

* Performs and conducts quality audits on pipettes during verification to ensure each unit meets repair quality standards.

* Follows through on customer instructions relating to their order, such as requests for additional parts.

* Completes related database entries, accounts for parts used, and ensures appropriate billing processes are completed.

Secondary Duties:

* Ensures that all test equipment is maintained, calibrated, and in good order.

* Maintains proper levels of replacement parts and related supplies and materials.

* Promotes On-Site service to customers through delivery of literature, posting of flyers, and direct contact with potential customers.

* Follows applicable PCSI procedures and policies and supports PCSI's Quality System.

Accurately completes and submits Expense Reports a timely manner.


* Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.

* Must have strong interpersonal and verbal (English) communication skills.

* Must have good written communication skills, as there will be frequent email communication with scheduling, sales, billing, and quality staff at the head office.

* Must have good mechanical aptitude and the ability to disassemble and reassemble small precision mechanical instruments.

* Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

* Strong organizational skills to successfully develop and schedule, process, and complete multiple tasks.

Takes responsibility for own actions; Keeps commitments; periodically volunteers to work additional hours, when possible, to reach goals.

Safety and Neatness- Awareness of, and adherence to, safety policies and procedures. Dresses in an appropriate "business casual" manner, wears provided PCSI branded clothing. Wears appropriate safety equipment. Works safely with others. Maintains a neat and clean work area. Demonstrates respect for Company property.

A. Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of one year related experience with Manufacturing, Instrumentation, and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and prior work experience. Previous knowledge or work experience with pipettes preferred.

B. Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present verbal information to customers and other employees of the organization.

C. Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

D. Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a good knowledge of computers and a working knowledge of common Microsoft Office programs.
