Publication date: 21.09.2017 REFERENCE: Company Company: United Illuminating (UIE) Department: Engineer and Strategic Planning Job Title: Engineer 1 Job Location: Orange, CT Reports to: Manager, Competency Business and Department UI - 180 Orange Orange,CT Description Job Overview: This is an entry level Engineering position that provides an overall understanding of UI's electric utility system operation and in particular Electric System engineering areas. The Engineer uses existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems. Work is under relatively close supervision. Key Responsibilities:

* Perform routine, basic engineering analyses, designs and calculations using existing procedures and processes to solve routine or standard problems while applying limited judgment and discretion.

* Develop basic engineering knowledge. Prepare, maintain, and understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams). Develop and specify equipment, assemble documents and other requirements for basic assignments.

* Develops team effectiveness skills within own work team. Communicates information and responds to standard internal/external customer requests with assistance from others.

* Works to specify and design systems to address basic situations. Apply design standards, industry codes, design criteria, guidelines, and UI polices/procedures to basic assignments. Works within technical guidelines & direction provided by others to meet deadlines.

* Develops an awareness of costs related to own work and understands the company's business management practices. May contribute to project or process teams. Requirements Education and Experience Requirements: This position requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college/ university. Electrical Engineering degrees are preferred in Electric Transmission and Distribution (ETD). Individual has a basic

knowledge of engineering theories, practices and procedures. Able to communicate information, ask questions and check for understanding.
