Director, Plant Operations
Responsible for managing the engineering department, delegating and prioritizing workload, providing accurate and quality estimates in response to customers' requests for the order and purchase of new and existing products, on-time per the customer's schedule.
Summary of essential job functions:
Manages the engineering department; prioritizes and delegates work in the engineering department and continuous improvement activities to achieve company and departmental objectives.
Receives and reviews RFQ's (Request for Quotation) from customers with Director Marketing & New Business Development or Manger, Customer Service to determine if the request can be reasonably filled and approved.
Using parts lists and related drawings from customers develop manufacturing routings with sequences for processes and machining requirements.
Create drawings for forgings to support production use, as well as, forging instructions.
Design drawings and forge tooling as needed.
Upon receipt of customer purchase order, review quotation vs. PO. Must accurately determine machining and forging operations, and determine accurate time required to complete each operation.
Coordinate with outside vendors for services, including machining and testing.
Work closely with QA to insure sound product and compliance with all QA requirements.
Submit NCMR to customers for approval/disposition.
Have a working knowledge of all jobs in manufacturing.
Communicate with customers as required.
Manufacturing & forging process, welding, CNC programming, and manual machining processes experience.
Tooling experience, specifically in forging dies, trim tooling, and secondary tooling.
Proficient in MS Dynamics AX, MS Office: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, CAD/Modeling software, (SolidWorks preferred) & Forging Simulation software (DEFORM preferred).
Experienced in 6S, Kaizen, Process & Value Stream Mapping, AS9100 & ISO9001.
BS Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace or Material preferred), 10 year experience or more in forging fields, with aerospace forging experience preferred.
