Position Summary

This role will be a key member of the Global Operations FP&A team. This role reports to the Director, Global Operations FP&A. The Senior Manager, will serve as a key member of the financial management team supporting the global manufacturing operations group in the US, with a distinct focus on financial planning and analysis activities for the Clinical & PDAS (Process Development & Analytical Science) groups, business partnering, financial reporting and capital planning.

Alexion Pharmaceuticals is a high growth bio-pharmaceutical company with operations in over 40 countries worldwide. As Alexion has grown in size and geography, the Global Operations have also expanded globally, requiring focused expertise from a Finance point of view. This individual will have substantial interaction with senior Clinical & PDAS management as well as the R&D teams.

This individual will need to be a self-starter in a very dynamic environment with the ability to both implement and continuously improve processes and have excellent analytical skills.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

The specific roles and responsibilities of Senior Manager, Global Operations FP&A include the following:

Financial Planning & Analysis

* Business partner with functions in Global Operations in New Haven including Clinical & PDAS groups

* Prepare inputs to metrics reporting, forecast, budget and strategic data for Global Operations & consolidate R&D spend in Global Operations

* Support forecasting, budgeting and strategic plan consolidation for Global Operations

* Prepare analysis of monthly performance vs. budget and forecast & provide commentary on key drivers of change

* Prepare variance analysis to explain changes and variances in forecasts and budgets

* Prepare Dashboards for Management including Department and Consolidated Dashboards

* Drive continuous process improvements in FP&A processes for Global Operations

* Business partner with Global Operations functions to identify business challenges and provide analysis to support decision making

* Work cross functionally and co-ordinate efforts of key stakeholders

Capital Planning

* Consolidate US inputs to budgeting and forecasting of capital expenditure

* Prepare inputs to deliverables to the Capital Steering Committee

* Prepare detailed projections of capital spend

* Review ABS Shared Services transactions to record capital spend in Fixed Asset Ledgers

* Track internal capitalization of costs in compliance with Corporate Policies.

Month End Reporting

* Prepare inputs to monthly financial reporting; ensuring that accruals are accurately reflected and reporting is carried out in compliance with corporate deadlines.

* Day to day interaction with ABS Shared Services to ensure delivery of services in relation to invoice processing, payments and purchase orders.

* Prepare journals in line with corporate deadlines.

* Complete month end balance sheet reconciliations to corporate deadlines

* Support the preparation of balance sheet flux and variance reporting for areas of responsibility.

Reporting and Special Projects

* Provide supporting information requests for external reporting processes

* Develop and maintain accounting process and procedure documentation for areas of responsibility

* Support the Sarbanes Oxley and internal control framework, including documentation, testing, scoping and reporting responsibilities

Position Requirements and Profile:

* Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field. CIMA or ACA strongly preferred

* Experience in a Pharma/Biotech environment a strong plus

* 5+ years' financial experience; 2+ years' in manufacturing or R&D Operations finance

* Experience in an international US group a plus

* Knowledge of SAP and US GAAP a strong plus

* Excellent Excel, Powerpoint and Financial modelling skills

* Report building skills a strong plus
