Job Description

Job Summary

Performs various setup and monitoring activities of Box, Pit and/ or Vacuum Furnaces required in Heat-Treat, and Coating Processes.

Essential Functions

Input, monitor and modify computerized furnace programs as indicated by instruction sheets.

Following instructions provided by Department Supervisor, Process Operations (A.I.'s and PMS's)Support operations may include performing dew-point tests on production furnace runs (Pit Furnaces ONLY).

Job Responsibilities

Perform Dew Point Test prior to furnace run per Activity Instructions (A.I.s).

Properly enter Cycle Ramp Rates, Soak Times and Cycle Times per Process Sheets. Monitor temperature level until proper temperature is reached. Fully understand all operations of furnaces to insure minimal deviation from process and correct process is run.

Receive and review paperwork (Loading Information, Router) for each process to be completed. According to the process instruction sheets provided, operator will set up controls on furnace panels, and monitor outputs on instruments to ensure conformity with compliance standards.

Check furnace control panel for up to date calibration sticker. Ensures charts or screen is loaded and controls are set in accordance with established procedures.

Maintain daily operation sheet for all work in process and logs in and out times for each job.

Once processes are complete, collects all paperwork/chart review results, Approval of furnace runs.

Responsible to maintain, update and monitor departmental records pertaining to thermocouple usage.

Receives all paperwork covering heat treat and inputs required, and information into departmental record log.

Troubleshoot minor problems with equipment independently, refers others to management for resolve.

Adhere to all company safety rules and practices and wears protective equipment as directed.

Basic Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED

* Minimum of 6 months Furnace Operator Experience.

This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications

Current certified Furnace Operators in the Branford, CT facility are preferred.
