ASSA ABLOY is a world-leader in total door opening solutions. The Americas division, headquartered in New Haven, Connecticut, employs approximately 9,000 people and is looking for a Paralegal to join the in-house legal group.

This position will report to and support the General Counsel, and be responsible for the following:

Assisting with preparation of a range of contracts, including employment, non-compete, non-disclosure, commercial agreements, etc.

Drafting correspondence; preparing, reviewing, modifying and analyzing various corporate/legal documents.

Managing service of process issues, including reporting claims to appropriate carrier and liaising with relevant business unit.

Providing support for litigation-related matters, including: assisting with factual investigations; coordinating outside counsel, internal parties and insurance carrier; responding to subpoenas and records requests; and collecting, preserving, reviewing and producing documents as necessary.

Maintaining corporate record books and updating officer and director resolutions as directed.

Preparing claim updates for quarterly legal exposure reporting and assisting with other internal reporting requirements.

Providing support for corporate governance initiatives, policy development, training and compliance.

Developing and maintaining a filing and/or database system for legal matters, including litigation, contracts, real estate leases, etc.

Maintaining legal department website

Lending overall assistance to the General Counsel in all legal matters.

Job Requirements:

To succeed in this role we believe you need a Bachelors? degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience within a legal department, ideally with at least 2 years in a mid-size or large law firm. We seek a solution-oriented individual with the ability to prioritize, analyze situations from both a legal and commercial perspective, and handle multiple responsibilities. Knowledge of contract terms and the legal and business implications of contract provisions is essential. You must be self-motivated with excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. We seek a professional with meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product. You must have superb skills using Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
