Technical Sales Engineer
Client is a hot tech firm, developing solutions for the restaurant industry, as well as oil and gas. This role involves consultative sales of enterprise solutions.
Reporting to the VP of Global Sales, the primary focus of this position is to provide technical pre- and post-sales support for new and existing customers and prospective customers. This individual will act as the technical "go to" person for the sales team and customers. Using a consultative approach, the Technical Sales Engineer will gather customer requirements and develop the necessary application and design inputs for a successful corporate-level evaluation, test-store phase and finally full-scale, roll-out of the products.
Assist the sales force in the presentation of the solutions to prospective customers.
Understand and help the sales team define customer needs and requests as they relate to product requirements and changes
Assist prospective customers with the setup and installation of evaluation units; as well as properly documenting and providing instructions to the end-user as needed
Take ownership of coordinating CMR requests between sales and engineering to ensure a successful evaluation of solution. Must have a high sense of urgency
When at customer sites, be able to make changes to payloads and update menu cosmetics, as well as troubleshooting terminal issues on your own or with support from R&D.
Work with Sales and Technical Support to resolve customer issues
Work with key customers to make the adoption of our technology as seamless and as easy as possible.
Make customer visits when requested by sales to ensure our products are working correctly
Take ownership of coordinating CMR requests between our customers and engineering - must drive these changes to completion with a high sense of urgency
Train and update the technical support team to ensure we have the most accurate customer resolutions in our Knowledge Base
Work with Product Development and R&D to ensure you are up to date and trained on all features and functionality of our AccuDate Solutions
Travel to Customer Sites - up to 60% of your time will be spent traveling
Develop, improve, and maintain the Technical Sales Engineer organization and processes to successfully meet and exceed performance and sales goals
Document all customer interactions and follow-ups into our SF CRM or other systems as specified
Understand and communicate technical issues and/or enhancement requests from customers back to technical support and R&D
Perform strategic win/loss analysis to optimize sales execution and drive product improvements
Partnering closely with sales to meet business objectives and assure the successful sale and deployment of the solution
Promote solution selling versus product selling.
Bachelor's degree in a technical field
Minimum of five years' experience in a related field
Must possess sound knowledge of software development, software test and debugging, computer programming, systems integration and analysis.
Incumbent must have excellent presentation skills, solid organization and planning skills and a proven ability to communicate with key clients.
