Purchasing Specialist

Torrco is a full service wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating, cooling, kitchen & bathroom products. We are seeking a Purchasing Specialist to add to our team at our headquarters in downtown Waterbury, CT. We pride ourselves on supplying the highest quality products in the industry. As our Purchasing Specialist, you will join our growing team, and be responsible for managing inventory replenishment and optimization for your assigned product lines. You will ensure that the quantity of materials retained in inventory will satisfy customer needs, as well as complete product life cycle management. Specific responsibilities include performing purchasing duties for a select set of product lines; analyzing purchasing and sales activity data to be used in making decisions on buying to target or need; acting as a liaison to the branch system to collaborate on purchasing and expediting issues; maintain and develop ongoing relationships with Torrco associates and vendors, and act as a subject matter expert.


?? Collaborate with the purchasing, sales, and marketing groups to understand and analyze needs.

?? Timely placement of purchase orders in support of demand requirements.

?? Obtain supplier commitment on delivery quantities and timing with appropriate follow up to ensure commitments are met.

?? Communicate and align with suppliers on PO modifications in support of forecast changes.

?? Ensure alignment between PO cost and invoice charges with appropriate engagement to resolve discrepancies.

?? Active participation in tracking variances and inventory pick-up data.

?? Work with internal Torrco teams (Receiving, Inventory, Marketing) to align company requirements with supplier performance.

?? Analyze the purchasing systems and suppliers to identify cost improvement opportunities, quantify those opportunities and submit to upper management.

?? Continually monitoring supplier performance and capabilities and ensure the supply base will match long range strategies for capacity, quality and delivery.

?? Accountable for helping manage supplier relationships designed to achieve high levels of results relating to quality, on time delivery, cost and continuous improvement.

Job Requirements

Excellent Excel skills; strong aptitude for math and analytics; a love of reporting; ability to see the big picture but a desire to work with the details; solid organizational skills; excellent ability to prioritize; superior time management skills; good communication interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills. A Bachelor's degree or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is desired. Two to four years' experience in purchasing role, along with product knowledge is preferred. Epicor Eclipse system knowledge is a plus.
