Job Description

General Purpose

The Executive Director directs all aspects of day-to-day administration, including financial, facilities, and human resources management; actively participates in strategic and program planning and assessment, provides administrative support for several Board committees and all Board meetings, and selects and supervises support and program staff. Oversees and coordinates activity among fundraising, finance, facility, support, program and pastoral staff to provide for effective and efficient service to students, faculty, staff, Board of Trustees and community members. Monitors and controls STM budget. Provides oversight of the creation of financial reports for Chaplain, Treasurer, President and Board.

Jointly reports to the Chaplain and President of the Board of Trustees of the Saint Thomas More Corporation. Directly manages the Director of Administration & Finance, the Director of Communications, the Director of Development, the Facilities Manager and the Director of the Center for Music and Liturgy. Also has responsibility for the operations management of Campus Ministry Programming led by the Assistant Chaplains.

Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours is required. May include evening and weekend work hours.

Education and Experience

Masters degree in management, finance, accounting or other organizational discipline, required. A minimum of five (5) years experience in management, preferably in a not-for-profit organization. Fundraising experience and work with non-profit boards also preferred.

?? Demonstrated ability to work well with others on deadlines and under pressure.

?? Knowledge of general management principles and experience with budgeting, financial analysis and estimation, and investment management.

?? High degree of computer literacy with thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office PC based spreadsheets, word processing and presentation applications, social media and e-mail.

?? Knowledge of and experience with not-for-profit accounting and human resources principles and theories.

?? Well-developed organizational, oral and written communication, presentation and supervisory skills.

?? Practicing Roman Catholic with strong working knowledge of the Catholic faith.
