Job Description

The Safety Coordinator oversees an organization's safety programs and conducts/organizes ongoing operations and safe handling training on equipment and machinery. Supports Safety and Operations leadership by assisting in the development, monitoring, and managing of safety programs, policies, and procedures for the organization. Develops and distributes educational materials about safety and related programs. Ensures that the facility is in compliance with current safety regulations. Regularly evaluates the facility's procedures and equipment to identify unsafe conditions for improvement. Responsible for documenting safety inspections, citing dangerous areas/ procedures and recommending corrective procedures. Implements new programs and procedures as directed by management and senior safety staff. Regularly conducts all new warehouse employee safety training and shop floor orientation. Identifies when additional training, education and/or workflow is/are necessary to ensure the safe operations of the facility, collaborating with managers and safety leaders are appropriate. Maintains safety equipment supply and availability


  • 3+ years of related experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have a general knowledge of all machinery on shop floor
  • Steel industry and product knowledge
  • Proficiency in Lotus Notes and Microsoft Office applications and Olympic production control systems
  • Demonstrated ability in collecting and analyzing data, reporting and presentations
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, organizing, inventory management project and planning skills
  • Skilled in prioritizing and multi-tasking with detail orientation and ability to bring tasks to closure
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
