Job Description

Reporting to the UI Design Manager of User Experience & Digital Strategy, we are seeking an energetic User Experience Designer to join our Technologies team. You need to be a UX guru who is able to look at the big picture (from a UX, technology, and business perspective) to create compelling user experiences for our campus community.

You should have experience designing interfaces, and validating designs through user research. You should possess strong strategic, creative and planning skills that enable you to effectively communicate, facilitate and drive solutions. You should be an innovative thinker, knowledgeable about UX methodologies and their application, and passionate about evidence-based design.

Skills & Abilities:

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Demonstrated experience creating user-focused interface design solutions for the web, desktop applications and/or mobile and hand-held devices. Experience in conducting user research to refine solutions at all phases of the design cycle. Ability to balance the needs of the user with technical and budgetary constraints.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Excellent skill in creating wireframes and interactive prototypes using Sketch, Illustrator, Balsamiq or similar tools. In-depth understanding and experience of user objectives, user scenarios, interaction/flow diagrams, design systems, usability principles, and accessibility.

Required Skill/Ability 3

Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and Javascript, as well as with content management systems, with a preference for a familiarity with Drupal. This is not a coding role, but we seek a UX professional who understands how technologies can inform design decisions by both constraining and augmenting what is possible when creating site plans.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Experience working with internal teams of web planners, including user researchers, graphic designers and project managers. Experience working with internal and external development teams. Experience managing client expectations in a higher education environment

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and facilitation skills. A strong team player who can communicate with people across many disciplines.
