Newtown Savings Bank is seeking an organized, self-motivated, team player to join our Loan Origination Department as a Mortgage Processor III. The Mortgage Processor III is responsible for the processing of loans in a timely and efficient manner to ensure a clean approval and a timely closing.  

The Mortgage Processor III works directly with the customers, Mortgage Bankers and team to facilitate documents as needed for loan submission into Underwriting and clearing all conditions prior to the Pre-Closing milestone. 


  • Responsible for monitoring their own pipeline in the “Processing” and “Conditional Approval” Milestones in Encompass.

  • Responsible for monitoring key date such as contingency, investor and lock expiration dates.

  • Responsible for reviewing the loan’s processing screens and documentation in Encompass for accuracy ensuring all information is complete. 

  • Must update Encompass loan information and upload documents into the Encompass File Manager as needed.

  • Responsible for submitting the loan to an automated underwriting system (DU – Fannie Mae Desktop Underwriter or Freddie Mac Loan Prospector and reviewing the findings for outstanding documentation necessary.

  • Responsible for contacting customers, employers, appraisers and attorney’s to clear outstanding conditions. Must maintain effective follow up to ensure receipt of any outstanding documents.

  • Complete a Processing checklist. 

  • Communicate with Mortgage Bankers and/or Mortgage Banker Assistants regarding updates and/or outstanding conditions.

  • Assist with communication between all parties throughout the process.


  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 2-4 years of experience in a retail lending environment. 

  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.

  • Ability to independently prioritize, analyze and manage critical tasks on a daily basis.  

  • The position may require a flexible work schedule that would include some evening, weekend and overtime hours. 

  • Candidate must be familiar with state and federal laws governing real estate lending transactions. (Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, HMDA, CRA)
