Summary of Position : Directs and coordinates activities of the maintenance department in supporting the manufacturing process by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Plant Engineering Manager is responsible for all maintenance and facility related activities including repair, modification and installation of equipment.

Responsible for managing the hazardous waste program at the facility. Coordinating with Ametek corporate safety and compliance resources to administer such programs, planning and directing the activities of outsourced safety and compliance resources, and other E.H.S. duties as assigned.

Plans maintenance operations, establishing priorities and sequences for maintaining plant equipment and facilities.

Provides technical support for the design, modification and installation of equipment.

Develops and implements a plant wide preventive maintenance program.

Acts as the prime contact for all outside maintenance services, and outsourced safety and compliance resources.

Works closely with Plant Process Engineering resources to help solve process-related quality and yield problems, as it relates to equipment.

Works with the Plant Manager, production and engineering groups to develop specific cost savings plans.

Develops the Maintenance budget along with the Plant Manager and allocates resources needed to meet goals.

Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.

Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the Department.

Participates in investigations and negotiations pertaining to various aspects of mergers, joint ventures and acquisition of new businesses.


The incumbent achieves objectives through the following:

Indirect reports: Maintenance Techs

Working Conditions:

Work Environment: Indoors and Outdoors

Atmospheric Conditions: Indoors - Climate controlled office environment. Outdoors - Climate based on environment

Temperature Extremes:

Indoors - None

Outdoors - Temperature extremes based on environment

Materials, Tools, and Equipment Used:

Automobile, office equipment to include but not be limited to personal computer and printer, office paging equipment, facsimile machine and copy machine.

When in Production areas, required safety equipment may include hardhat, steel toe boots, industrial safety glasses and hearing protection. SDL2017
