The Electrician III is responsible for planning, constructing, installing, and maintaining a wide variety of electrical equipment to required specifications, and in accordance with national and local electrical codes. This includes routine electrical and maintenance duties, troubleshooting, remodeling and modification of equipment and/or buildings, installation and analysis of complete electrical systems.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Performs routine electrical and maintenance duties on equipment and buildings to keep them functioning within specifications.

* Work from and review blueprints, wiring diagrams or schematics and introduce changes as directed or authorized.

* Perform rearrangements and installations of conduct, wiring and related equipment.

* Replaces broken parts, checks motors and control equipment, and adjusts equipment to proper parameters to ensure safe and efficient operation.

* Checks electrical connections, contacts, overload protection, breaker and wire size on all plant equipment and buildings.

* Checks transformers and line equipment.

* Cleans, lubricates, changes bearings, checks insulation values, takes volt-amp readings, records test results and keeps proper documentation and records of maintenance and repair.

* Troubleshoots and analyzes problems with the electrical systems of the facility.

* Observe prescribed safety precautions and maintain good housekeeping practices in work areas at all times.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

* Working knowledge of electrical code and structural, mechanical, and electrical systems.

* Knowledge & training in the proper procedures for working with live circuits up to 440V and 600 AMP

* Ability to use various types of electrical testing equipment and general maintenance tools.

* Effective math skills.

* Effective manual dexterity and eye hand coordination.

* Effective oral and written communication skills.

* Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring, diagrams, and drawings.

* Ability to work in a team environment.

EDUCATION REQUIRED:

* High school diploma or equivalent.

* Four (4) years of technical school or equivalent.

* State of Connecticut Electrical E-2 License

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:

* Six (6) years of closely related electrical experience.
