Manufacturing Machinist - Thread / Grind

Full-Time Shift(s): Monday-Friday 6AM to 2:30 PM and 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM
Working as a Full-Time Manufacturing Machinist-Thread/Grind, you will be responsible for making exact and sometimes difficult setups on throughput and centerless grinders in order to efficiently produce quality parts according to standards set by blueprints and specifications.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Setting up and operating three or more thread grinders to grind threads on parts and a battery of grind threaders to thread the entire range of set screws
o Threading special blanks supplied by a source outside of the plant
o Selecting, installing and adjusting work rest blade, track and feeding tubes, and adjusting the hopper feed mechanism and exit chute
o Selecting machine and feeding speeds, keeping the hopper loaded, and hand feeding blanks
o Selecting, mounting and balancing wheels and adjusting feeds and speeds according to diameter, length and blueprint requirements
o Selecting, installing and adjusting tubes, cup, track assemblies, hopper feed mechanisms and exit chutes
o Observing parts in tubes and tracks for proper feeding of dress wheels and checking diamonds to ensure proper wear
o Keeping machines properly lubricated and maintaining levels of spindle oil and flow of grind oils
o Using fixed and adjustable measuring instruments to ensure conformance with specifications
o Completing operator training and certification in accordance with company policy and using the Operator Certification program when applicable
o Emptying work baskets into tote pans and stacking pans in prescribed locations
o Verifying completeness of production runs before changing setups and making minor repairs while performing TPM duties
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o 18 years of age or over
o Excellent written and oral communication skills
o Possess strong computer skills and math aptitude, including decimals and fractions
o Possess an excellent safety record
o Ability to ready blueprints and interpret process drawings
o Demonstrate a desire to continuously improve manufacturing processes
o Ability to learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
o Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
o Ability to safely lift up to 75lbs
o Ability to pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico, and Guam ONLY)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Prior threading work experience
o Possess 2 years of experience working in metal forming and operating calipers and gauges.
