This position is responsible for managing Procurement and Vendor Processing within the Global Finance Transactional Services organization. This role will report to the Senior Manager / GPO of Global Requisition-to-Pay processes.

The role will support the definition of the global process design, the service delivery model and the process roadmap for the global Procurement and Vendor processes.

This role is accountable for supporting the implementation and management of global Procurement and Vendor processes and programs across the organization to ensure an effective, efficient and controlled way of operating locally, regionally and globally, across business lines. This individual will partner with broader Finance teams and Business Partners in new program development providing project management support, process design and system capability to achieve enterprise-wide goals.

Principal Responsibilities

Process Design and Standardization

* including a process design, desk top procedures, governance, templates, policies and training materials

* Support the definition of the global process design, the service delivery model and the process roadmap for Procurement and Vendor processes, including how the processes should operate with regards to people and technology, looking broadly to design one global standard

* Oversee the day-to-day Procurement and Vendor activities, ensuring they meet process standards and policy.

* Accountable for managing the processes delivered by GFTS (captive and 3rd party providers) in order to meet the agreed outcomes

* Oversee the process-specific service performance management; review metrics and manage performance against agreed targets holding the internal and external service provider accountable for delivery to the agreed metrics

* Ensure processes are clearly documented, including design, operating procedures, governance, templates, policies and training materials

Continuous Improvement Initiatives

* Work with the Service Delivery teams understand the root cause of the service issues in order to resolve process related escalations and identify continuous improvement and transformation opportunities from a delivery / service perspective

* Identify process technology requirements and drive a simplified yet effective Technology landscape with the support of IT

* Draw on the external industry practice and latest third party / supplier thinking; compare Alexion performance with external industry benchmarks to understand where opportunities exist

* Review internal process benchmarks and share internal best practices across Alexion to understand areas for improvement

* Monitor and track effects of continuous improvement initiatives to ensure benefits are being realized


* Attend key governance meetings and provide inputs as required

* Act as a point for process escalations

* Be heavily involved in daily / weekly huddles with business/ customer teams in order to be aware of the day-to-day issues and escalations and to understand major process gaps in order to drive process changes and improvements

Stakeholder Management

* Represent Finance in, a range of cross-functional discussions and collaborations with internal stakeholders

* Ensure multiple perspectives are represented in the definition of services including process, policy and technology

* Support the Global Process Owner in steering the Requisition-to-Pay strategy and delivering targets

* Drive cross-process initiatives


* Minimum of 5 years' of progressing work experience within finance with significant experience in the Procurement and Vendor Processing function

* Ability to see broadly and understand strategic changes and effectively translate that into necessary process or technology changes needed to support the needs of the business

* Experience in multinational company

* Experience in managing global processes and teams in a shared service environment

* Strong communication, relationship building, presentation and interpersonal skills required.

* Strong leadership, customer service and organizational skills required

* Knowledge of US GAAP, SOX and HCP rules and regulations

* Self-directed, self-motivated leader

* SAP Experience preferred


* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required; MBA is preferred
