Senior Science Director (CT / remote)

Position Overview:

The Senior Scientific Director for Scales and Rater Training is responsible for the development of scientific clinical trial deliverables such as scale clinical recommendations and training content, supervising and mentoring scientific staff, and generating departmental process efficiencies. Additionally, the Senior Director is responsible for supporting and overseeing the development of products and services related to traditional psychological and neuropsychological tests (scales) used in global clinical trials, and is actively engaged in business development, sales, and operations supporting the delivery of the executed SOW.

The Scientific Director supports planning, product or service development, organizational development, and business development, and collaborates with external experts.

Essential Job Functions:

Manage and execute tasks in line with company SOPs and agreed regulatory standards, including the following:

  • Support and standardize the delivery of scientific project services:
    • Creation of training content, materials (didactics, video training modules), and training curriculums for neurocognitive clinical trials
    • Drive the definition and scope of study services in alignment with the vision of the Clinical Trial Operations department
    • Oversee client communications related to scientific decisions or issues
    • Be accountable for study scientific decisions, and for ensuring clarity of internal and external project communications
    • Manage relationships with KOLs assigned by the Sponsor, or established by our client
    • Provide therapeutic leadership
  • Ensure accurate tracking of time spent on studies
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical Trials Operations leadership to develop tracking and control mechanisms to ensure profitable delivery of rater training services
  • Staff management, development, and training
  • Contribute to the standardization of scientific services and delivery mechanisms, including:
    • development of pragmatic quality control procedures that ensure the quality of delivery of services
    • design of operational data collection systems and procedures to ensure availability of data for analysis and publications
    • organization of tasks and work flows to ensure optimal allocation of high volume tasks to the least costly resources
  • Work collaboratively with other senior managers in the company to implement and revise processes and technology solutions to support the workflow
  • Contribute to the development of SOPs and Guidelines
  • Under direction of Business Development, actively network with pharmaceutical clients, seek to understand their needs and present tailored solutions
  • Oversee the development of proposals with a focus on:
    • Building relationships with sponsors' clinical and operational staff, and seeking to understand their needs
    • Providing expertise on the various scientific and operational aspects of tests and scales
    • Developing clear and effective project proposals, in close collaboration with Business Development and Clinical Trials Operations leadership
    • Assist in developing programs and training materials that illustrate the breadth and depth of our expertise in support of proposals
  • Supporting products and services
    • Support cognition research
    • Support collection and analysis of data related to rater performance for improving services
    • Design and interpret metrics for tracking product or service delivery performance

Requirements:

  • Psychology or related field post-graduate degree with a minimum of 10 years' clinical trials experience in CNS, cognitive neurology, neuropsychology, or similar
  • Experience in interacting with clinical scientists, psychologists and medical professionals at a high level
  • An understanding of the science of measuring cognition and behavior, including an understanding of computer based tools, traditional neuropsychological and psychological assessment tools, available to measure change in cognition in a clinical setting
  • 7 years' experience managing scientific projects and directing staff
  • Experience implementing new services and technologies
