Job Description
The Marketing & Communications Director has the responsibility for the development and implementation of the overall marketing strategy including branding, communications, budgeting, and public relations in order to support YMCA leadership, while strengthening the mission of the Wallingford Family YMCA.

  • Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and at least five years of relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the concepts, practices and procedures related to the fields of marketing and communications.

  • Demonstrated expertise in website content management systems and web analytics tools.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to synthesize complex ideas into coherent, compelling case statements and communications materials.

  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software, including Microsoft and Adobe products.

  • Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to build consensus and work effectively within a cross-departmental team.

  • A well-developed understanding of accounting and budgets.

  • Experience in a non-profit/cause-driven environment a plus.

    Essential Functions
    This position has primary impact on the overall effectiveness of YMCA images and messages in the community, and has responsibility for the broad awareness that attracts people to the organization and encourages members to deepen their involvement and funding sources to support our activities. Some measures of success:

  • Widespread/accurate interpretation of the purposes of the Wallingford Family YMCA to the community

  • Growth and retention of existing members and program participants

  • Programs and departments feel supported by the marketing department, and place a high value on the services provided.

  • Meeting or exceeding budgeted revenue goals for membership, programs and fundraising.

    Salary $45,000.00 - $55,000.00
