Our Business Area Trelleborg Coated Systems is a leading global supplier of unique customer solutions for polymer-coated fabrics deployed in several industrial applications. We are seeking a Quality Manager for the Engineered Coated Fabrics manufacturing site in New Haven, CT.

Job description

The Quality Manager is responsible for the operation and improvement of quality products and processes through, but not limited to: Six Sigma, SPC, quality systems, and computer systems. This incumbent is a key contributor for the technical interaction with key partners, suppliers, and customers. Among the job responsibilities are the following:

* Coach and develop key quality staff to handle critical customer documentation

* Interact with plant personnel to ensure quality is evolving in conjunction with overall company plans; assist in the development of traning strategies

* Design, implement, maintain, and update plant quality systems and procedures to comply with AS-9100/ISO-9001 standard reengineered to 2015.

* Lead and present improvement activities internally and externally, to include Supplier improvement developments, internal continuous improvements, corrective actions, and customer-based improvement programs

* Lead management review meetings with the development of action plans for improvement of overall quality systems

* Lead Internal Quality system and audit programs

* Manage Quality Lab (supervise hourly personnel, resolve technical and maintenance issues, set schedules, and provide necessary training)

* Communicate quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, and contractors

* Establish and maintain entire plant Quality Management System (QMS)

* Generate reports regarding nonconformance of products or processes, daily production quality, root cause analysis, and quality trends

* Review statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control

* Confirm that raw materials, purchased parts or components, in-process samples, and finished products meet established testing and inspection standards

* Coordinate the selection and implementation of quality control equipment

* Other duties, as assigned

Candidate profile

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Statistics, or related field or equivalent experience in a quality related field as well as a minimum of 5 years' production / manufacturing and or inspection / lab experience (Polymer chemistry background preferred) in aerospace and/or automotive systems

* Demonstrated expertise in applying quality tools, including APQP, Manufacturing Excellence, flowcharts, problem analysis and solving tools. Includes mathematical tools (SPC).

* At least two years' experience in roles involving administration/management, customer service, production and processing.

* High computer skill proficiencies in the following: MS Office (PowerPoint), Access (database), MiniTab, specialty software (e.g., compliance, calibration systems)

* Excellent written and verbal skills as well as effective problem-solving and organizational skills

* Training in Six Sigma methods and applications prefrered

* Ability to present concepts to customer base
