We're looking for an experienced, success-driven Outside Sales Rep for our Connecticut territory. This position will be based out of our Wallingford CT branch.

The selected candidate will drive Commercial, Institutional & Government (CIG) sales growth of lighting and other electrical products in CT. You'll design and implement a strategic sales plan that expands the company's customer base and builds our presence in our local market. You'll build and promote strong, long-lasting sales and service relationships by partnering with customers to understand their needs. You'll also present realistic sales and revenue forecasts to your local team, and identify opportunities and market shifts while being fully aware of new products, services and competition status. Strong opportunity for advancement for the right candidate. Knowledge of electrical products, including lighting, switchgear and commodities very helpful.
  • Responsible for the local development and sales growth in the Commercial, Institutional (Higher Education, K-12 Education, Hospitals, Hospitality, Distribution Centers, etc.) and Government (Federal, State and Municipal) markets.
  • Develop sales plans & implement service solutions that support the CIG market within the assigned territory to generate profitable revenue & expand our E-Business digital platform.
  • Work with appropriate branch support personnel to ensure the highest levels of customer service.
  • Develop assigned sales territory business plans in conjunction with our strategic suppliers.
  • Provide service solutions to customers to help them streamline business processes and improve profitability; identify customer needs and develop, prepare and present solutions and ROI estimates.
  • Evaluate industry and business trends for potential business impact; identify key opportunities and potential threats within the assigned sales territory.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers and suppliers to ensure that the assigned sales territory is properly positioned within the marketplace; provide guidance and support in the retention of profitable business.
  • Local travel required with periodic manufacturer training out of state.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Responsible for meeting or exceeding assigned annual gross margin budget by promoting and selling products in assigned territory in compliance with the Company's pricing policies.
  • Handle customer complaints promptly and effectively, and report potential claims.
  • Keep management informed of local competition and market conditions.
  • Carry out sales and merchandise programs as directed, and recommend new items for stock.
  • Maintain current customer records, files, and reports of business transactions; assist in collection of past due accounts.
  • Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings as requested.
  • Demonstrate products after sale when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Minimum of 5 years experience required
High school diploma or GED required

Preferred Job Requirements
6-10 years experience preferred
Four-year degree preferred

Working Conditions
Extensive travel required, including some overnight travel. Ability to drive and operate a motor vehicle with a valid driver's license.
