Job Description


This position will be organized out of Wallingford, CT, but candidate can be based in Wallingford CT, Portland ME, Manhattan NY, Akron OH, East Hanover NJ or Boston Mass The Project Portfolio Specialist will be responsible for helping with managing and monitoring a portfolio of diverse projects. The ideal candidate will possess a high degree of interest in project management and IT systems. Including the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and translate business data in Excel (Power BI is a plus), Access, and or SQL (QlikView is a plus) into digestible information that improves the project portfolio selection and communication processes. The position involves requesting/receiving input from numerous structured and unstructured data sources as well as functional leads and portfolio & project managers; and presenting the output in a manner that streamlines and facilities portfolio objectives; and ultimately provide input to be integrated with or incorporated into Oracle Primavera Portfolio Management (OPPM), Oracle's Primavera Unifier, and Oracle's Primavera P6 software. The position also involves identifying and developing a metadata model of interrelationships among existing sources and determining data origination points. Provides thought leadership and contributes to expanding the knowledge base within the area of expertise which includes developing new methods, techniques and criteria across businesses, functions, and regions to align strategy and direction with corporate and divisional approaches, systems, information, and support. Ability to use and communicate advanced problem-solving tools and techniques. Lead efforts to promote and improve the effectiveness and consistency of internal portfolio practices, procedures, tools, and systems. Develop training documentation and administer training on portfolio tools, processes, and procedures for the collection of the Request for Project Approval (RPA) and Estimate information and reporting requirements. Communicate plans for changes/updates to the project portfolio (OPPM) system to end users and those otherwise impacted by system updates. Champion for the annual budget cycle and within-year dynamic project requests within the Portfolio Management Team to provide sufficient rigor to justify the projects prior to submission. Facilitate the prioritization/scenario planning sessions with the business for the annual budget cycle. Collaborate project and portfolio management teams for creating and maintaining portfolio dashboards, cost reports, round meetings, and management deliverables. Continuously improve the portfolio management process with best practices from external training and conferences, including resource management and prioritization model enhancement Appropriate training will be provided based on the experience of the selected candidate.
