Job Description

Title of Supervisor - Executive Director

Primary Duties:

  • Aides in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the dietary department, its programs, and activities - including department policies, procedures, etc.

  • Responsible for the ordering of food, supplies, and equipment

  • Responsible for receipt, storage, preparation, and service of all food

  • Responsible for the creation of the weekly menus in conjunction with the registered dietician

  • Maintains a safe and sanitary kitchen area and equipment in compliance with applicable city and state standards.

  • Oversees meal service and dining room delivery of meals to residents

  • Hires, orients, supervises, disciplines, and evaluates all dietary employees

  • Develops and coordinates dietary work schedules and assignments

  • Meets with residents, their families, medical staff, other departments and/or executive director as needed

  • Works with minimum supervision

  • Attends in-service and on-the-job training as directed

  • Understands and upholds Residents' Bill of Rights and holds all resident information confidential

  • Understands and implements the concept of team work

Qualifications and Experience

  • Must have a minimum of an Associates Degree in Food Service Management

  • A minimum of one-year managerial experience

  • A minimum of two years dietary experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital, skilled nursing facility, or other related facility.

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English

  • Ability to make independent decisions

  • Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, families, residents, and visitors

  • Must possess leadership qualities and the willingness to work harmoniously with/and supervise professional and non-professional personnel.

  • Must be able to observe, listen, and communicate effectively

  • Must be able to relate to and work with the elderly
