Job Description

Portmeirion Group USA is a growing, innovative product distribution company based in the Waterbury, CT area. We are seeking an Accounting Manager who would embrace the energy and activity that defines our small, hands on team. We need a "go-getter" to perform and oversee all things accounting (including journal entries and general ledger) and reporting. This champion would perform functions in payroll, A/R. A/P and payroll and would also support IT, HR and tax reporting.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Monthly and annual close - including journal entries, reconciliation and analysis
  • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Work with parent company's accounting department to comply with reporting and tax filings
  • Perform Payroll, A/R, A/P functions and oversee clerical support
  • Prepare multiple bank account reconciliations
  • Maintenance of consolidation, inter-company transactions
  • Assist in reviewing and analyzing financial statements, preparing budget and forecast
  • Develop, maintain and analyze budgets, compare to actual
  • Prepare audit work-papers in accordance with GAAP and assist external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements for reporting
  • Maintain and improve internal controls over financial transactions
  • Assist with payroll processing and various human resource and office management duties
  • Drive process improvement projects and assist CFO
  • Ensure books and financials are in accordance with GAAP or other required accounting standards

What You Need for this Position

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required
  • 5+ years' experience
  • Detail oriented and possess analytical skills and bookkeeping proficiency
  • Work independently and meet required deadlines
  • Ability to lead, train and develop staff; supervisory experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with advanced working knowledge of Excel
  • Strong ERP system skills
  • Cost accounting experience a plus
  • Inter-company accounting experience
  • GAAP reporting experience
  • External Reporting experience
